When we work with you, we use Translation Memory – a software application that allows us to store and re-use past translations to identify words, or phrases or sentences for future purposes.
How does translation memory work?
Translation Memory is essentially a terminology database. The original text and the translation are aligned sentence by sentence, paragraph by paragraph and stored in the software memory. When a word or phrase or sentence occurs in a future project, the TM system will highlight the previous translation to the translator to either re-use, edit or reject.
This significantly reduces the time it takes to translate further documents while ensuring consistency and ultimately saving you money.
For example: If you provide a text of 2000 words and 1500 have already been translated, you only get charged the full rate for the 500 new words.
Terminological databases are then easily compiled and glossaries for preferred terms are constructed which is particularly useful for ongoing projects. At Anglia, for long term clients and projects that are spread over many languages, we establish and maintain a glossary of preferred terminology over multiple languages. This glossary will be constantly updated and checked to ensure that it still reflects your needs and will be used by our translators for all of your projects to ensure consistency and accuracy.
